Women in Banking"Go Instead Where There is No Path & Leave a Trail" Ralph Waldo Emerson
From the very first meeting in 2006, the Women in Banking committee has grown from 14 business women meeting at Chevy's for lunch to a powerful group of 50 to 80 bankers, consultants, marketers and business owners from around the Valley. The venue has changed but at the heart of it, the Women in Banking Committee is about bringing the finance and business community together for networking, education, and an exchange of ideas. Don't let the committee name fool you, the WIB is open to everyone and men are encouraged to attend. The truth is, women lean on relationship building with respect to business; and relationship building is the focus of the group. Luncheons begin with 45 minutes of networking, and seriously, the room buzzes with connectivity. Attendees are encouraged to visit vendors and definitely encouraged to buy raffle tickets. All proceeds from raffle sales go towards our efforts to support Fresh Start. Lunch is served at noon. Lunch begins with announcements, but move quickly into 30 second commercials for business' who have donated raffle items, and introductions of our WIB sponsors. The luncheon is rounded out with industry information; useful information bankers, financial folks, and businesses can really use and apply in the current economic environment. The Women in Banking Committee is organized by a leadership team consisting of Emily Amparan/Factors Southwest, Candice Rice/Factors Southwest, Toni Rudolph/US Bank and Lisa Alberti/Small Business Finance. Members of the leadership team organize presentation topics, luncheon venue, reach out to the community, gather vendors, sponsors and build attendance. The leadership team is an elite group of dedicated women worth their weight in gold to make the WIB every bit of the successful organization it is today.
