Competition FAQ's & Rules:

• What are the prizes? The top three winners of our local competition will win $750 for first place, $500 for second place and $250 for third place. Also, the top three local winners will be entered into the RMA National competition, which will award additional cash prizes ($1,000 for first place) and a chance to attend the RMA Risk Management Conference this fall 2010 in Baltimore.
  
  
• Who may participate? Any RMA member and / or an employee of an RMA member institution.
  
  
• When are papers due? Friday, April 30, 2010
  
  
• How much does it cost to enter? It's free!
  
  
• What can I write about? Any topic related to the financial services industry. This includes drawing from past experiences, researching a cutting-edge topic, or doing a case study on a lending experience.
  
  
• Can I write a paper with other people? Yes, as long as they are eligible to participate (see first bullet point.)
  
  
• Can I submit a paper that I have done as a project at work? Yes, but clear it with your employer to avoid any confidentiality or sensitivity issues.
  
  
• How long does it have to be? Six pages minimum. There isn’t a maximum limit; however, papers over 20 pages are discouraged. Papers are to be typed on plain 8 1/2" by 11" white paper, margins should be between 1" to 1 1/2" all around, and text should be double-spaced.
  
  
• What are the judges looking for? If the competitor conducts research, it must be referenced with endnotes or footnotes and a bibliography. Any common references format is acceptable.
  
  
• Can I earn CRC continuing education credits? Yes, CRC's will earn 3 CEU credits for completing a paper, 3 more credits if it places first, second, or third, and up to 12 more credits if it is published in The RMA Journal.
